Volunteer Action Days

The Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers grows from strength to strength as an active voluntary community.  The volunteers address key conservation issues in the Burren and have planed two new action days, that all are welcome to join.

Sat Feb 11th :
Scrub clearing at a very important butterfly breeding site near the perfumery at Caran with Jesmond Harding. As scrub clearing is limited to certain times of the year we have to do the best we can when we are allowed to do it so the more people we have on the day the more scrub we can clear! More details to follow nearer the time.

Sat 21st Jan
Repairing dry stone walls around Blackhead on Shane Casey's (Clare's Biodiversity Officer) land. We began some of this important work last November so maybe this time if we get a big enough turn out we may complete some of the worst sections.
The meeting point is the Murroughtouhy Layby on Blackhead at 10am. Please feel free to email me if you feel you need more detailed directions to find us there.
Bring your lunch, waterproofs, suitable footwear and a mug (tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided as usual). You may want to bring gardening gloves. We will have a few spare pairs if you don't have any. We'll also be  bringing the Hi-Vis jackets as well as we will be working along the roadside.
