Learn To Grow Your Own Vegetables

The following course will be run by Kinvara Sustainable Living from the Burrenbeo Resource Centre in Kinvara village. This course is aimed at beginners, and improving gardeners. There will be theory sessions looking into the plant and soil science, as well as the common sense that goes into growing food in the west of Ireland. There will be a practical morning for the vegetable growing course in Doorus Orchard community garden.

Grow your own vegetables, morning classes  Learn how to grow food for your family, in 6 mornings,  Starting February 21st, 9:45 to 11:45 am in Burrenbeo, Kinvara village, Co. Galway. plus one practical session in Doorus Orchard Community garden.

This course will cover the basics of choosing the best site for a vegetable patch, knowing your soil, to raise beds or not o raise beds, successful seed sowing, and all the different vegetable families and how to grow them. The principles of growing without chemicals will be taught, including manures, composting and liquid feeds, as well as pest, disease and weed control. Tea/coffee, home baking and detailed course notes supplied. The 6 classes
plus the practical session, costs €100 with a  concession rate of €90 applying to those in receipt of social welfare payments and members of Burrenbeo Trust. This course will be followed by a four week  fruit growing course, starting March 13th, book both together for €150 -€130 concession- and save € 5.*
